Susan Manion of Orland Park recently made it to the top 20 for Southern Gospel Music with her single “There is Peace,” which was played nationwide at 1,000 radio stations. She was also chosen from 10,000 people and will appear on World Idol in Nashville, which is like American Idol. She has sang at the Inspirational Country Music awards and proudly said she appeared on a huge billboard in Nashville with all the B. B. King Singers.
Susan had made it to the top 15 for Christian Country and now at 51 for Country where it is being played in all 50 states. In June she sang at the CMA festival in Nashville. She said this was a big thrill, because many of the biggest names in country music perform at the four-day festival.
Susan made her first CD with band members of Hootie and the Blow Fish and The Blue Travelers. This CD was recorded at Sound Knowledge Studios in Minneapolis, Minnesota. You can purchase her music on line at Susanmanion.com. She is also on Josh Turner’s HMG Nashville promotional disc.
Susan sings at weddings, memorial services, talent shows, churches, showcases with a live band and has done commercial work and voice overs. At ages 11 and 12 she modeled John Robert Powers Modeling Agency and has done runway and print modeling. She is with DeSanti Talents in Chicago. They specialize in modeling, acting and singing. She is also with Frain who specializes in high fashion top models.
Susan has sung gospel, opera, blues and pop songs, but her main interest now is country music. Along with her singing career and companies, both in Orland Park area. She has been in business for 10 years and said both businesses are doing great.
In college Susan majored in pshchology. She studied music under Sandra Jozef for two years. She was a swimming teacher and lifeguard and has taught handicapped children how to swim. She likes to write, act, dance, run, lift weights, bike, hike, play basketball and rollerblade. She said, ” I have the gift to gab and have counseled people from A to Z”.
